Celtic Frost произхождат от Швейцария и са сред най-значимите пионери на екстремния метъл. Активни от 1984 до 1993 г. и отново от 2001 до 2008 г., те повлияха на блек, дет и дуум метъл сцената през осемдесетте и деветдесетте години. В своите ранни години се вдъхновяваха от Venom, Black Sabbath или Judas Priest, но също и от готик рок групи като Bauhaus и Siouxsie & the Banshees.
Danse Macabre е обширна компилация, издадена през 2022 г. от издателство Noise, която проследява ранния творчески период на групата. Бокс сетът съдържа общо 46 песни на пет диска — първите три студийни албума и първото EP, допълнени с бонуси, и пети диск с редки записи от репетиционната зала.
